Bluegrass preps Fantasy Football league
League Rules - updated August 10, 2011
BGP Football League (BGPFL) is a free two player keeper league that is sponcered by the BlueGrassPreps.com web site.
All times are Central Standard
Time (CST)
TEAM NAMES
Each team will have a team name
consisting of a geographic location and a nickname.
THE DRAFT
The draft order
is set in the order of the final standings from
the previous year. The team in last place will get the first pick with
the league champion having the 16th pick.
The draft will be held using this web site and Internet e-mail.
Each round will serpentine, meaning that if you have the last pick in the first round you will have the first pick in the second round.
The Draft will start about the 1st of July (usually, but not always, the first Monday after the 4th of July) in order to have it completed before the NFL season starts.
Each GM is allotted 24 hours to make a selection. As soon as a GM makes a selection, the next GM is considered to be on the clock. All times are Central Standard Time (CST). Should the draft be taking too long towards the start of the season, the Commissioner will determine a way to speed up the draft, either by (1) shortening the draft picks to 12 hour time limits, (2) having all owners to agree to meeting in a chat room, so we can finish the draft live, or (3) by having each owner send in a list of draft pick preferences.
If a team fails to make a
selection within the allotted 24 hours, the next team will go on the
clock. The team that missed their pick will be able to submit a pick
of un-drafted players when they can.
Please check the BGP web site at least twice a day to keep the draft moving at nice pace.
If you know that you won't be able to check the site and your selection is coming up, please
forward your selection to either The Commissioner or someone in the league so they can
make the selection for you.
The Draft will be conducted in 16 rounds.
You are only allowed to draft two QB's period. The season two starting QB's rule does not apply during the draft.
THE DIVISIONS
The National Conference:
Walsh Division
Shula Division
Landry Division
Gibbs Division
The American Conference:
Boone Division
Harrod Division
Clay Division
Shelby Division
ROSTERS & STARTERS
The starting lineup will consist of: 2 running backs, 2 receivers, 1 flex player (can be receiver or running back), 1 quarterback, 1 tight end, 1 kicker and 1 defense for a total of 9 players plus the tie breaker.
If a line-up isn't submitted by the deadline for that week you will receive a zero for the week. Even if you intend to use the same line-up as the previous week, you must e-mail or PM The Commissioner. Sometimes servers will go down, so I suggest that you not wait until the last minute to submit a line-up. I will make my phone number available just in case.
Sunday Games - Starters must be in before the start of the first game.
Thursday Games - Starters must be in before the start of the first game unless otherwise determined by the Commissioner.
Saturday Games - Starters must be in before the start of the first game unless otherwise determined by the Commissioner.
Changes to a line-up can be made. If a line-up is submitted on time for a Thursday game, changes can be made for the Sunday games up the start of the 12:00 games. Naturally you can't change a player who has already played for that week. If there is no Thursday game - changes can be made up until 12:00 PM on Sunday.
If a team fails to turn in a lineup, that team will receive a loss for that week. The Commishioner will then submitt that teams last summitted lineup for their opponent to play against.
If a team fails to submit a lineup three times in one season, the ownership will be replaced with someone that will be more active.
In addition to a team's
starting lineup, one player will be listed as the teams tie breaker.
If the game is tied at the end of regulation play, three points will be
added to the team that has the highest score by their tie breaker. If
both tie breakers scored the same amount of points the game will remain a tie.
In the Playoffs all reserves are listed in the order the owner wants them to be used for
breaking a tie. If the game is still tied after the first reserves, then the 2nd reserves
are used and so on until the tie is broken.
ROSTER LIMITS
Since there are 16 teams in each Conference and there is only 32 NFL teams, each team will have a
roster limit of two "starting" quarterbacks, kickers and defense teams. This is
done so every team will be able to have a replacement for their starters
at these positions on bye weeks. This limit will also be enforced during the draft. No team will be allowed to draft more then two players at each of these positions.
SCORING METHOD
The format that is used for scoring is
listed on the Scoring
Rules page.

TRADES
Trades are allowed until Thursday at 8 PM CST of week #10.
All trades must be submitted to The Commissioner for review. If The Commissioner feels that a trade may be lopsided, he will send the trade to the rest of the league for the league to vote on. Owners will then have 24 hours to vote and make themselves heard - majority will rule. Before a trade will even be considered, all teams involved with the trade MUST verify the trade with The Commissioner. Once a trade is approved by The Commissioner, it will not be final until rosters are at the legal limit. i.e. drop a player or add a player to get to the 18 man roster.
No trades are permitted after
the LINE-UP deadline for any particular week.
FREE AGENTS
Free Agent requests may be submitted through the MFL site beginning at the end of the Monday night
game, through Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM. If two or more owners request the same
player, the player will go to the owner with the worst record. The order for Free
Agents will be posted after the Monday Night Game has been played and final scores are in.
Requests will be filled one at a time. The site will start with worst record and fill his first request and then move to the next owner with the worst record and so forth until all owners have had a chance at picking up a player. The site will then start from the top again and so on. If you have more than one request, be sure that the player you want the most is at the top of your list.
Free Agent requests submitted after 7:00 PM Wednesday are first come first serve, up until the LINEUP deadline for that particular week.
PLAYOFFS
The regular season will begin week 1 of the regular NFL season and end week 12. The Playoffs will begin week 13 and continue to week 15. The Bluegrass Bowl will then be held on week 16.
For Seeds 1-4 are determined by the winner of each division according to best to worst record. Seeds 4-8 are determined by the best 4 remaining records in the league.
INJURED RESERVE
There is no Injured Reserve
RETURNING TO THE LEAGUE THE FOLLOWING YEAR
Since the BGP forum is a large community, it order to give more people a chance to get involved, only the top 12 teams in each Conference will be returning to the league the follow year. The bottom four teams from each conference will have to "sit out" at least one season to allow more people the opportunity to participate.
The National Conference players that have been with the league prior to the 2008 season will get a grace period or mulligan if you wish. That is, they will get to move to the American Conference and take over one the those vacant teams for the following season. Then if they ever find themselves in the bottom four again, they will have to sit out for at least a season before being able to come back to the league.
The one exception to this will be a past champion. Once you have won a championship, you have the right to play in the league as long as you would like.
